“Nikki was competent, thorough, and easy to work with. She accommodated a tight deadline and was quick in her work. She provided great feedback that will significantly improve my manuscript. As a new author, she was also affordable for my budget. I highly recommend working with Nikki! 5/5!”

WRITING FEEDBACK
I can give you detailed feedback on your short fiction, poetry or novels.
Charges are decided on a case-by-case basis but here are some example fees:
Feedback and editing (2 passes) for a short story of 2000 words - £30
Feedback and editing (2 passes) for 3 poems (up to 6 pages) - £20
Novels (up to approx 75k) - £300 for proofreading with comments and a short report on the novel
If you require more in-depth editing or your novel is longer, there will be an increase in price.
I will respond to any queries you have on my feedback and always want you to leave happy.
*My specialist areas are crime, thrillers, rom-coms, literary fiction, experimental writing but I'm open to all!
PLEASE NOTE: for novels, I provide a 1000 word sample for free before committing.
For short fiction and novels, I will comment on some of the following: overall structure, story arc, character development, imagery, dialogue, redundancy, grammar and punctuation.
All documents include tracked changes (unless specified otherwise by the client) and comments, and for novels, a report about your work with suggested areas for development will also be included.
I will return your work within 3 weeks but faster turnarounds can be negotiated.
I am happy to discuss anything on the phone before or after an edit if you wish.
WHO AM I?
I am an editor with over 14 years’ experience and a background in publishing (editing and production).
I studied English and Creative Writing to Master’s level. I also completed a course in 'Proofreading for Editors' at the Publishing Training Centre and have a proven track record of editing various types of documents to a professional standard. I have worked as an EFL teacher and freelance proofreader and editor.
I have two published novels, Ellipsis (Sparkling Books) and Volta (Aurora Metro Books). I am the winner of the Virginia Prize for fiction 2020 and also have a poetry chapbook and collection (Knives Forks and Spoons). In 2021, I had a hybrid pamphlet and a collection published with Beir Bua Press. I also have a pamphlet out with Hem Press. I run an online magazine (streetcake), a writing prize, and a writing programme for mums (MumWrite), as well as one-off workshops, which all involve feedback and development for writers. I love helping writers feel happy about their work and like to act as their cheerleader to keep them going, whether it's query trench time, indie press submission or they're going down the self-publishing route. I have tried all of these avenues too!

"Nikki helped me finesse my work at a critical stage prior to submitting my novel to agents. After her editorial eye, I felt confident in that my presentation in terms of phrasing, grammar and spelling was of the highest standard. Dudley was prompt, professional and her overall feedback insightful and helpful ,to give both a personal and professional response to the novel as a whole." -Isabelle
