WRITING FEEDBACK
I can give you detailed feedback on your short fiction, poetry or novels.
Charges are decided on a case-by-case basis but here are some example fees:
Feedback and editing for a short story of 5000 words - £50
(you can send me fewer words and we can discuss a price)
Feedback and editing for 2 poems (up to 5 pages) - £25
Novels (up to approx 90k) - £450 for a comprehensive line-edit / £270 for proofreading
Novel extract (up to 5000 words) and a synopsis - £50
Novel line-edit (up to approx 90k + a synopsis deal) - £470
For short fiction and novels, I will comment on overall structure, story arc, character development,
imagery, dialogue, redundancy, grammar and punctuation.
All documents include tracked changes (unless specified otherwise by the client) and comments, as well as a detailed report about your work with suggested areas for development.
I will return your work within 4 weeks but faster turnarounds can be negotiated.
I am happy to discuss anything on the phone before or after an edit if you wish.
ACE funding bid feedback
I have experience successfully applying to ACE for funding and have also advised others on their ACE applications. I would be happy to read over your application and suggest improvements.
Please contact me with your needs.
Approximate fee: £50.
Who am I?
I am an editor with over 12 years’ experience and a background in publishing (editing and production).
I studied English and Creative Writing to Master’s level. I also completed a course in 'Proofreading for Editors' at the Publishing Training Centre and have a proven track record of editing various types of documents to a professional standard. I have worked as an EFL teacher and freelance proofreader and editor.
I have one published novel (Ellipsis, Sparkling Books) and one forthcoming in 2021 (Volta, Aurora Metro Books). I am the winner of the Virginia Prize for fiction 2020 and also have a poetry chapbook and collection (Knives Forks and Spoons). I run an online magazine (streetcake), a writing prize, and a writing programme for mums (MumWrite), as well as one-off workshops, which all involve feedback and development for writers.
